Six brands, one system

Schijfdokter, Gamedokter, Zonnedokter, Reparatiedokter, Fietsaccudokter and ACdokter: six repair services, each with its own customers and search terms, but all asking for the same work behind the scenes. This is our own project: the brands belong to the same owner as Werkritme. We built it exactly the way we would build it for a client, and that is why it is here.

What was there

The idea was simple: someone who has lost a hard drive does not search for an IT company, they search for a disk doctor. Six trades, six exact-match domains, six audiences whose searches never overlap.

The problem was just as simple: six websites, six request forms, six sets of quotes, invoices, payment links, mailboxes, terms and a visual identity. Do that six times by hand and you spend a month, then end up with six things that each differ slightly and six places to maintain.

There was no existing system to connect to. Everything had to be created, and quickly: the domains were registered and every day without a site was a day without requests.

What was needed
  • Six websites with their own name, colour, services, prices and knowledge base
  • Request forms that land in one overview
  • Quotes and invoices with a separate number sequence per brand
  • Online payment, including instalments, with the mandatory texts
  • Terms and privacy per trade, from one legal source
  • A brand system that looks different six times and is maintained once
What was built

One source, six faces

Not six projects but one system with six configurations. Everything the brands share lives once in the code; everything that sets them apart lives in a small file per brand.

  1. 1
    Site generator

One generator builds six static sites of thirty-odd pages each: services, prices, how it works, knowledge base, local pages, terms. Per brand a file with name, colour, copy and prices; the rest is shared.

  2. 2
    Intake

Every form posts to the same small service, which stores the request, forwards it to the brand's mailbox and puts it in the dashboard. One place to look, whichever brand someone came in through.

  3. 3
    Quotes and invoices

A quote is created from a request; after the customer accepts, the invoice follows. Each brand has its own number sequence, its own sender and its own wordmark on the document. The customer only ever sees their brand.

  4. 4
    Payment

Invoices are paid through a link on the brand's domain: iDEAL, card or three instalments. The payment status flows back into the dashboard; reminders go out by themselves.

  5. 5
    Legal

One shared set of terms with a chapter per trade, and one umbrella version on the company's own site. The privacy statement works the same way.

  6. 6
    Brand system

Mark, wordmark, favicon, app icon, share image, e-mail header and colours are generated per brand from one design. A change to the design is a single command, and all six are updated.

The hardest part

Saying the same thing six times without it sounding that way

The temptation with one generator is that every site ends up the same. That is exactly what you do not want: someone having an e-bike battery rebuilt should not read copy that could just as well have been about hard drives. So the copy per brand is genuinely written per brand; only the structure is shared.

The second was the line between what is and is not offered. With air conditioners, work on the refrigerant circuit requires a certificate that is not held. The site, the terms and the business listings say so explicitly and refer the customer on with a measurement report. A system that promises more than the business may deliver is not a good system.

And the instalment payment option turned out to carry mandatory privacy texts that have to appear on the payment page, on the invoice and in the terms. That was missed in the first week and added later.

Technology
  • Static sites from a generator: no CMS, no database on the visitor's side
  • Intake, dashboard and documents as small self-hosted services
  • Payment through Mollie; documents as branded PDFs
  • Branding as code: one design, six renderings
  • Each site its own repository, the generator kept separate

What it does

A request on any of the brands lands in the same overview. From there a quote is two minutes' work, the invoice follows on acceptance, payment is online and the reminder goes out by itself. A copy change or a new logo is one edit and one rebuild; there is no sixth site lagging behind.

There is deliberately no hours-saved figure here. There was no old situation to compare against: the brands did not exist yet. What there is, is a system that works from day one, with six brands that each come across as one business and are managed together as one.

Own project: the six brands belong to the same owner as Werkritme. That makes it not a client reference, but a complete, running system you can look at. To see what something like this looks like for your business, it starts with a conversation. How that works →

Start with one process

Tell us which work gets retyped most often at your company. If automating it turns out to be a bad idea, you will hear that in the first conversation – before there is an invoice.

Have your process assessed

The first conversation is free and without obligation. Want it substantiated? The Automation Check is €295 – deducted if you have us build within 30 days.
